Odissi Music<\/strong> (o\u1e0di\u015b\u012b sang\u012bta<\/em> – \u0b13\u0b21\u0b3c\u0b3f\u0b36\u0b40 \u0b38\u0b19\u0b4d\u0b17\u0b40\u0b24) is an ancient genre of classical music in India, originated from the eastern state of Odisha. The traditional ritual music for the service of Lord Jagannatha, Odissi music has a history spanning over two thousand years, original sangita-shastra<\/em>s or treatises, unique Ragas & Talas and a distinctive style of rendition. The various subgenres of Odissi music include : odissi (o\u1e0di\u015b\u012b), chh\u0101nda, champ\u016b, chauti\u015b\u0101<\/em>, ja\u1e47\u0101\u1e47<\/em>a, m\u0101la\u015br\u012b, bhajana, sarim\u0101na, jhul\u0101, ku\u1e0duka, koili, poi<\/em> and more. Presentation dynamics are classified into r\u0101<\/em>g\u0101<\/em>nga<\/em>, bh\u0101<\/em>b\u0101<\/em>nga, naty\u0101<\/em>nga<\/em>, dhrubapad\u0101<\/em>nga<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eminent composers of the Odissi music tradition are the 12th-century poet Kabiraja <\/em>Jayadeva<\/a>, Dinakrusna<\/a>, Upendra Bhanja<\/a>, Banamali<\/a>, Kabisurjya<\/em> Baladeba<\/a>, Gopalakrusna<\/a> and Benudhara<\/a>. Also featured are rare compositions by the foremost Gurus of the 20th-century, including Acharya<\/em> Tarini Charan Patra<\/a>, Banikantha<\/em> Nimai Harichandan<\/a> and Desaraja<\/em><\/span> Singhari Shyamsundar Kar<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
